Hi!! I'm Carl, the drummer from the band Phisk. We are a five piece rock band who are based in Congleton, Cheshire, UK. We are begining to make a name for ourselfs locally and are hoping to stretch out further afield soon. This site will hopefully contain audio clips, photos and information about forthcoming gigs and booking details. The band consits of two guitarists (Stephen 'Stav' Wright and Ben McClory), a bassist (Chris 'Walley' Walley), a vocalist (James 'Marv' Walley) and a drummer (myself, Carl Worthington). I haven't got a band photo on here yet, but this picture slightly resembles all of us!!!! MEAT IS DINNER!!!!! HA, HA, HA, HA, HA!!!!!!!! Phisk the name has no particular meaning, it was in fact the name of Marv's college band in South Wales. The name came to be ours because we were totally stuck for something original to be called that didn't sound too shit. At this time, we had three different band members, Ant Hewitt on vocals, Tim Bucknel on bass and Jim McClaren on rhythm guitar. Due to comitments at work, Ant had to leave. This was unfortunate but luckily Marv accepted the job and set about writing lyrics straght away. We were once again a five piece. All seemed fine until tension started brewing between the band and Tim. Tim did not know the word 'compromise' and although we tried to talk to him on several occations, he just wouldn't listen. He wanted to play an ugly hybrid of The Sex Pistols and The Police. For the style of music we were playing, these basslines were totally stupid!! They ruined the rhythm and dynamics of our songs. This led to much bad feeling as Tim had always been used to getting his own way. He felt the band was his and that he should control it. His sense of humor was not very good and one day at practice he took a joke, not particually aimed at anyone, the wrong way and pushed Jim. Jim is a big lad who was mightily pissed off by this and though Tim hard against a wall. Tim never came back. We had a couple of practices without a bassist and a couple of weeks off. Then came the real blow. Jim and Marv were having problems. They had been sharing a house for some time (along with Ant) and tension was growing. Rumors started flying and all at once they couldn't stand to be in the same room as each other. This posed a problem for the band as we were already entered for a battle of the bands competion in Macclesfield, Cheshire. With a week to go, we recruited Ben and Walley. They learnt our set with only days to go before the gig. We went on stage, our first gig together and kicked ass!!!!! We won that round in the competion with only a marginal amount of practice. We got all the way through to the semi's before we got knocked out. Since then we have done a number of small gigs and are hoping to record a demo tape soon. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
